HAPPY MOTHER's DAY

to all the mothers.

mothering brings out the best and sometimes the worst from all of the mothers. But, it's worth it when you look back or look ahead.

mothering enables us to appreciate (at least to a certain extent) what our mothers had gone through.

May God strengthen us all!!

"The Little Prince"

I may seem a bit late in reading this well-known children's book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Well, I guess it's better starting late than leaving it untouched on the book shelf for years. Thanks Rachel for reminding me about this book.

There are some notions in this book which sound ironic whereas some others are worth for adults to ponder, I think. Such as:

- 'to get drunk so as to forget the shame of drunk' (how many of us have done something silly so as to brain-wash our minds from the guilt feelings or shame on some wrong-doings we have done?);

- 'the most important things are to be seen by hearts (not eyes)';

- the 'grown-ups are odd (from a kid's point of view).

Can't such notions be applied worldwide at anytime?

"The curious incident of the dog in the night-time"

Do you personally know anyone who is autistic? I do.

It is hard for me to imagine what the 'world' is really like in their eyes. This book, written by Mark Haddon, enlightens me, to a certain extent.

This is about a 15 years old boy who is determined to find out who murdered the dog. He is gifted in maths and patterns but yet emotionally isolated from others. Because of his unique 'nature', his actions and character look peculiar, and sometimes irritating, to those around them.

After reading through this thought-provoking book, one has to appreciate their ways to 'survive' in this complicated world and to 'communicate' with others in their own way. On the other hand, to be sympathetic with the parents who may have endlessly devoted their love and attention to their autistic children but without understanding and emotional rewards.
